Belgian Society of Sleep Technologists

For paramedics and nurses, working in a sleep center, the professional networking is still insufficient.

The entire sleep domain would improve when employees could communicate more often. The BSST (Belgian (and Luxemburgish) Society of Sleep Technologists) has been working on this specific goal. The BSST wants to inform the members and exchange knowledge.
The BSST can only achieve this goal by developing a network of sleep technologists.

The aims of BSST

Acting as a working group of the BASS, serving sleep technologists.
Working in a professional, scientific and educational way.
Promoting of communication and information flow between the sleep technicians and nurses of the different sleep laboratories and institutions, especially in Belgium and Luxembourg.
Helping with the certification process and recognition of sleep technologists.
Helping with the educational matters of the sleep technologists by keeping the knowledge up-to-date following the guidelines.
Helping with the learning and the application of new  techniques.
Interacting with other societies like the BASS itself, ESRS, ESST, Sleeponline, Platform Slaapzorgprofessionals, NSWO, NVLA, ….

Future directions

  • It would be great if the BSST would have the opportunity to  continue the coöperation with the BASS as it is now:
  • Organising a parallel programme during the BASS Autumn Meeting
  • Making local appointments with local members
  • Working with local delegues
  • Coöperating with events, symposia, … from other societies, like Sleeponline, Platform Slaapzorgprofessionals, ESST, …
  • Representing the Belgian (+Lux.) sleeptechnologists in the ESST (European Society, having a parallel programme during ESRS-congress).
  • Helping to implement the ESRS Examination for Sleeptechnologists for our members and for all sleeptechnologists in Belgium and Luxembourg.
